Apart from the Carnival, the New Year's Party can also be a significant element of the get-togethers in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Most famous between them is the party on Copacabana beach which attracts an enormous number of vacationers annually. A significant part of this event is the eye catching fireworks display. The exhibit which goes on for close to thirty minutes is a total delight to watch.

Hotels, rio apartment homes and the entire city are generally lit up with accents and diverse exhibits. Concerts and other amusement functions are planned to celebrate the event. Folks stroll the streets and relish the fireworks. Popping a bottle of perfectly chilled Champagne as the clock hits midnight is recognized to be a provider of luck.

The world famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival has a history of over two centuries old. Rooted in both pagan and religious festivals, the carnival is observed during the four days prior to the beginning of Lent. The Rio Carnival always has been the principal attraction amidst vacationers. In spite of all the carnivals that occur in Brazil, it's Rio de Janeiro that is referred to as Carnival capital of the globe.

The celebration starts on a Saturday, 40 days before Easter ends on a Fat Tuesday, after which Easter will start on Wednesday. The festival is celebrated in the month of February, from time to time March, which will be the hottest period in Rio.

The Rio Carnival, as we know it right now, was born in an effort to make the festivals more civilized in the way of European carnivals. Masks and abundant costumes were presented by the upper classes who paraded them around the city roads in their open carriages. The carnival also is similar to parties with refreshments, food and music that carry on the whole day and into the beginning hrs of the morning.

People emerge from their Hotels and rio de janeiro apartments into the streets and dance and sing, and all this eventually concludes in what is recognized as the Samba Parade. People engaged in the Samba parade are dressed in brilliant costumes and Samba dancers execute the world famous Latin dance forms.
